Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department received a call from a Fenimore Road resident reporting that a driver - later identified as White Plains resident Jennifer Andrade - who he did not know, was in the driveway, unsuccessfully attempting to back out shortly after midnight on Friday, March 29..
Police said that upon arrival at the Fenimore Road home, officers were flagged down by a man who was near a woman who was “walking unsteadily around int he driveway.” Officers noted that in the driveway, there was a vehicle parked at an odd angle with a shredded tire and damage to the front end of the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
When officers made contact with the man and woman, the former stated that he was the homeowner and did not know the woman.
According to police, Andrade, 30, had alcohol on her breath and she was unsteady on her feet. Her eyes were also glassy and bloodshot. When prompted whether she had been drinking, Andrade responded “yes.” Officers also found several empty bottles of alcohol inside Andrade's vehicle.
The homeowner stated that he spotted Andrade’s vehicle in his driveway, which he did not recognize, repeatedly attempting to reverse onto the roadway unsuccessfully. Andrade stated that she had been driving home when the homeowner instructed her to stop driving, at which point she exited the vehicle. Investigators noted that the homeowner again responded that he did not know the woman, who proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and refused a breathalyzer.
Andrade was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and cited for refusing to take a breath test. She was released from Scarsdale Police Headquarters following processing on the charges and is scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday, April 3 to respond to the charges.
